About REACH
Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health (REACH) is part of the University of Exeter Medical School and is linked with the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration South-West Peninsula (PenARC).
Our aim
The aim of REACH is to conduct research that helps to improve the lives of people with dementia and their care partners.
What we do
- Our work in health research draws primarily on perspectives from social gerontology, clinical and behavioural psychology, rehabilitation and public health, but we collaborate with colleagues in many fields, nationally and internationally.
- We use a range of methodological approaches, both quantitative and qualitative, and run clinical trials of new interventions.
- We involve people with dementia and carers in the process of developing and conducting our research and disseminating the findings.
- We work closely with a range of partners, such as Alzheimer’s Society and Innovations in Dementia CIC.
- Alongside our research programme we contribute to initiatives aimed at developing policy and practice and creating dementia-friendly communities.
