Data analytics services for human activity research

Activity Informatics

The University of Exeter and Activinsights collaborate on measuring human physical activity and behaviour. They created Activity Informatics, a complete service for public-funded research and clinical trials that want to use wearable sensors to understand participant activity in a trial. The service is designed for health and population surveillance researchers and service providers, who currently use or would like to use wearable devices to measure lifestyle, activity and sleep. The offering includes all aspects of trial management: deploying/retrieving devices, managing data and processing digital health biomarkers.

How it works

1. Powerful data collection

Professional wearables record participants' movement and environmental data.

2. Intelligent
analysis

Algorithms are then used to infer information about the type, duration, and characteristics of physical behaviours that make up daily living. A wide range of digital health measures can be obtained.

3. Real-world
impact

The measures from the wearables have significant relevance in both general health and the clinical setting.
