Overview

Amy currently works as a Graduate Research Assistant on an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) funded project to explore GP’s decision making for urgent suspected cancer referrals within primary care, including concordance or discordance with national guidance.

Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Amy worked as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) within a primary care NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) service delivering Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to people experiencing common mental health difficulties. Before this she completed an MRes in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham, including designing and undertaking qualitative research projects to better understand the experiences of family caregivers of people in a Prolonged Disorder of Consciousness (PDoC).

Amy has also previously worked within a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to implement projects improving local NHS end-of-life, dementia and frailty services, and as a research assistant on multiple academic and clinical trials at the University of Oxford and University of Bristol. Amy received her Undergraduate degree in Psychology from Cardiff University.
