Overview

John works in the NIHR Clinical Research Facility as a Clinical Research Facilitator where he supports the pre-analytics lab with the processing, storage, retrieval, sample tracking and HTA freezer compliance of a wide range of samples from clinical and commercial studies. He is involved in the isolation of PBMCs as well as supporting robotic DNA work for various studies. In addition, John is the main point of contact for giving inductions to new lab users in the CRF. John also assists with study-set-up, the development of SOPs, risk assessments, COSHH forms and other admin tasks for various studies.

Outside of work John maintains an interest in marine biology where he volunteers with the Alaska Whale Foundation once or twice a year. This involves remotely matching humpback whale flukes to already identified humpback whales.
