After graduating from Kazan Federal University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Irina had a short stint as a software engineer working on EEG software for diagnosis of epilepsies, and a database of outdoor air pollution. She then did her PhD at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics in Pushchino, the Biological Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences, where she studied mechanisms underlying irregular spatio-temporal dynamics in natural marine populations.

During her research career, Irina has been involved in many projects related to epidemiological modelling of human, animal and plant diseases. She utilised a vast range of different methodological approaches including mean-field, agent-based and statistical models. Irina worked at a number of leading research institutions such as the University of Cambridge, the Yale School of Medicine, the Universities of California and New Mexico.

Irina joined ESMI (PenTAG) team as a health economics modeller in March, 2015.

  • MSc Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Red diploma, equivalent of summa cum laude (Kazan State University)
