Overview

Georgia graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc. Honors degree in Human and Social Science. During her studies she became fascinated by the institutional, social and psychological mechanisms which influence an individual’s health and wellbeing outcomes. This lead to the continuation of her studies in MSc. Health Psychology wherein she became aware of the striking lack of inclusion of patients and public members in the creation of health interventions.

Georgia currently works as a research assistant within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula (PenARC) Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Team. Georgia will be involved in various projects ensuring that patients and public members are supported in their involvement in the research process, extending from the initial research planning stages to its final dissemination.

Research

Research interests

Georgia is thoroughly interested in the ways in which patients and the public can become more involved in the research process. This transformation of patient and public members from passive recipients of interventions to active contributors to the research process is instrumental in the creation of more relevant and effective interventions for service users. By ensuring collaboration between researchers and service users, we are able to include unique perspectives of those with lived experiences of health conditions in research, ultimately resulting in the creation of a greater patient-focused healthcare system.

• The  development, testing and evaluation of a COVID-19 fundamental nursing care protocol: a randomised controlled trial
• Facilitating access to online NHS primary care services - current experience and future potential (Di-Facto)
• Development of a novel family focused intervention to promote physical activity among young people with cystic fibrosis and their families.
• Feasibility study of a novel digital intervention promoting physical activity in young people with cystic Fibrosis.
