I choose to study at the University Of Exeter Medical School because it gives me an opportunity to get involved and have a "hands-on" experience with medicine.

This includes Life Sciences Resource Centre sessions and Clinical Skills sessions which are both very enjoyable and allow me to learn by doing different procedures, giving me an early exposure to the clinical side of medicine.

In addition, the staff at the Medical School are all very helpful, friendly and engaging, and provide a great resource for learning.

International students

The University of Exeter is a top global university and is home to more than 7,500 international students from 150 countries.

This gives the University a global atmosphere and our international students are given the support and assistance to ensure that their time with us is a success, from a meet and greet service on their arrival, to free in-sessional English language programmes.

An international community

The Medical School has students from over 20 countries, across our undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes. In addition to this, we have academic staff from 25 countries, who are contributing to ongoing research with colleagues in 35 countries and over 90% of this research is deemed to be of international quality. We recruit high-quality students and staff from around the world and are actively investigating challenges in the provision of medicine and healthcare at both local and global levels.

We encourage applications from suitably qualified international students who are either self-funded, supported by scholarships from their respective governments, or sponsored by scholarship programmes operated by the British Council and similar funding bodies.

Student support

The School has a dedicated International Student tutor who offers pastoral support and runs sessions with international students so that they can discuss and reflect on their experiences. Our incoming international students also have the opportunity to team up with an existing student who acts as a mentor and source of advice on anything from tips about writing reflective essays to where to find the best shops and restaurants.

For more information about the services available to international students at the University of Exeter see the International Student Support Office website.

We have 10 places for international students (students from outside of the UK/EU) and for 2016 entry we had nearly 180 applications from students representing 45 different nationalities. Students must complete their application via UCAS by the 15th October deadline and must undertake the UKCAT in addition to their application. We require chemistry and biology to have been studied at an advanced level.

We accept a number of local qualifications where the equivalency matches the standard requirements for Home/EU students studying under the A-Level or International Baccalaureate examinations systems. For guidance on the equivalency of your qualifications, please see the In Your Country section of the University’s International Office website, or contact us.

We do not have a definitive UKCAT cut-off score. The UKCAT threshold will be set each year upon receipt of the scores from all candidates. The interview is the final stage of the application process and we are only able to make offers to students who have attended interviews.

Interviews for the programme are held in Exeter each February.

Our three-year Medical Imaging programme is ranked second in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 and came joint fifth in the 2015 National Student Survey for overall student satisfaction. You will gain both a theoretical knowledge through university-based studies including lectures, laboratory sessions, seminars and workshops  and, gain practical experience through extended clinical placements in each year, which cover the full range of diagnostic imaging techniques and equipment in use today.

Applications must be made through UCAS with a deadline of 15th January. We require one science subject to be studied at an advanced level.

You must have undertaken a short period of work experience in an Imaging Department at a hospital and all shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview, these are held between November and March.

The number of places available for international students is limited by the number of placements our partners in the ten hospitals across the local region can support, for 2016 entry we have 3 places available. For 2015 entry we had 21 applications from international students from 9 countries.

The BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences programme is available as a three year programme or as a four year programme with a Placement Training Year held between the second year and the final year. The programme brings the study of medical science to life by connecting laboratory research to the treatment of patients. This allows students to see the translation of scientific breakthroughs on the health and well-being of individuals.

Applications must be made through UCAS with a deadline of 15th January for students who are not applying for clinical programmes or 15th October for students who are applying for clinical programmes and are applying to this programme as their non-clinical choice. We require biology to have been studied at an advanced level, together with another science subject.

There is no requirement for a Clinical Aptitude Test score as part of an application and candidates do not have to attend an interview for this programme. As a non-clinical programme, there is no maximum number of places for international students and for 2015 entry we received 120 international applications in total from students representing over 30 countries.
