Young People's Advisory Group steal the show!

Posted 7 August 2025

A final project meeting, for the Healthy Places, Healthy Planet project 'Evaluating mandatory calorie labelling in out-of-home food environments', was held in Jul 2025 in London. Laura Cornelsen, the project PI, organised a successful meeting with circa 45 national/local public policy makers and interested academics joining to discuss preliminary findings from health economic modelling and qualitative photovoice activities.

The Young People's Advisory Group, who were particularly key to the design, implementation, and interpretation of the qualitative work led by Dr Kerry Ann Brown and Camilla Forbes, travelled from Devon to London for the meeting. They presented their experiences of being part of the project and their thoughts on the policy in general. The young people stole the show with insightful and articulate insights - they received the most engagement with the audience and thanks for their presentation. Congratulations to all the young people, as well as the teachers and Camilla Forbes who runs the group. Watch this space for a series of results papers soon to be published - in which we hope the young people will also contribute!
