Major new programme to be evaluated by VoySES team

Posted 20 August 2025

The Voluntary Sector Evaluation Scheme (VoySES) is set to evaluate a major new programme just launched by the People's Health Trust. The new programme aims to help local people experiencing discrimination – including racism, homophobia and transphobia, ablism, misogyny, and agism – to take action and secure positive change that will benefit their health.

The 'Discrimination & Health' VoySES team is made up of academics from the University of Sheffield, Lancaster, and Exeter; and SPHERE's Daniel Mutanda is the UoE team member. Daniel and the team will focus on understanding how community-led action against discrimination can translate into tangible health benefits for individuals and groups. They are particularly interested in how empowering marginalised communities to challenge systemic injustices can improve health and wellbeing, contributing to a more equitable and healthier society.
