About me:

Dr Raquel Revuelta Iniesta is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition at the Public Health and Sport Sciences in the Medical School and one od the Directors of Children’s Health and Exercise Research Centre (CHERC) lead by Prof Craig Williams. After graduating in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Dietetics, I was granted a summer studentship from the Society for Endocrinology to perform a study looking at whether consumption of green coffee, rich in chlorogenic acid, had a role in the prevention of cardiovascular risk factors. Following this, I commenced a PhD at Queen Margaret University in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh and Ninewell’s Hospital, Dundee under the supervision of Professor David C Wilson, Dr Jane McKenzie and Dr Mark Brougham. My PhD investigated the effects of cancer on the nutritional status of children and adolescents, while also looking at potential factors that may contribute to the short and medium term poor nutritional status in this population. During this time, I also investigated the use of complementary and alternative therapies in paediatric cancer patients and their families and gained experience in paediatric oncology dietetics, designed and delivered courses on paediatric anthropometry at International Paediatric Oncology Dietetic meetings. I was awarded with a PhD in 2015.
