Matthew is an education and scholarship-focused academic at the Lecturer level with a strong connection to the University of Exeter, where he completed both his undergraduate (UG) degree and PhD. His doctoral research, titled An Investigation Into The Effects Of Short-Term Lower Limb Immobilisation on Neuromuscular Function, explored the impact of temporary immobilisation on muscle and neural function, contributing to the broader understanding of rehabilitation and neuromuscular performance. In 2018, he was awarded the Student Guild Teaching Award for Best Lecturer, in recognition of his dedication to delivering high-quality education. Matthew teaches across all three years of the UG degree and also acts as a personal tutor and dissertation supervisor at both UG and MSc levels. Currently, he serves as the Senior Academic Conduct Officer (SACO) for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, overseeing the conduct processes for Public Health and Sport Sciences, Biosciences, and Psychology. His SACO role involves various faculty responsibilities that contribute to maintaining academic integrity and supporting the development of teaching and learning within the university.
