Overview

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the death of Associate Professor Jo Tarr.  Jo was well loved by colleagues and students right across the University, particularly in the Department of Clincial and Biomedical Sciences and in the BMBS and Medical Sciences programmes . Jo was also widely respected outside of the University by INSPIRE colleagues. Her intelligence, kindness and passion for the student experience and her research in immunology were noted by all.

Dr Jo Tarr was an Associate Professor based in the Medical School and the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She had a teaching focused role and was the Academic Deputy Director of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) degree. Jo was a graduate of the University of Exeter and began her lecturing role in 2011. She was also the academic lead for the BMBS Life Science Resource Centre and the chair of the Medical Sciences Integrated Learning Group. Jo also sat on Senate and was the academic lead for the INSPIRE programme which is an initiative funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences to involve medical students in research activities with a view to them pursuing a clinical academic career.
