Overview

Abas is a lecturer in Medical Imaging at the University of Exeter. He is a Diagnostic Radiographer with a strong interest in musculoskeletal imaging. He developed a research interest in imaging (ultrasonography and MRI) markers of symptoms of osteoarthritis and was awarded the University of Nottingham-Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for Research Excellence to undertake a PhD in Academic Rheumatology.

He is currently involved in teaching undergraduate modules, academic tutoring of undergraduate students, mentoring of undergraduate apprentices, and supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate projects at the University of Exeter. Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Abas worked as a lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He has also worked as a Diagnostic Radiographer in various tertiary hospitals in Nigeria.

Research interests

Abas has diverse research interest in MSK imaging, which include ultrasonography, MRI, and x-ray imaging. His research interest is focused on investigating biomarkers of symptoms of osteoarthritis (OA) as well as predictors of progression of OA. He is also interested in systematic reviews.
