Rifat Noor Shanta is a QUEX joint PhD candidate at the University of Exeter (UK) and The University of Queensland (Australia), based within the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI), University of Exeter. She holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine and postgraduate qualifications in Veterinary Public Health and Animal Science. Her doctoral research explores antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food-producing environments, with particular emphasis on livestock systems, environmental pathways, and the animal–environment–human interface within a One Health framework. Through this work, she aims to improve understanding of how antimicrobial use in food production contributes to the emergence, persistence, and dissemination of AMR across environmental compartments. She is supervised by Professor William Gaze at the University of Exeter, with joint supervision through the QUEX programme.
