About me:
I am a Clinical PhD Fellow at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology within the Cook group, co-supervised by Professors Chris Scotton & Michael Gibbons. My PhD examines how the environmental fungus Aspergillus fumigatus drives airway inflammation and how interactions with innate immune cells and the human epithelium may regulate this process. My research will focus on using patient airway samples obtained by bronchoscopy to answer these questions, employing ex-vivo cultures such as the lung-on-a-chip microfluidics system. I will establish a bioresource of research samples from patients both for this work, and to enable further translational research in the South West.
I am a Specialty Registrar in Respiratory Medicine & General Internal Medicine and also have an interest in Medical Education. I am currently a member of Council and the Science & Research Committee of the British Thoracic Society.
