Luke Reynolds
Postgraduate Researcher
Sport and Health Sciences
I am a PhD researcher within the Public Health and Sports Sciences department at the University of Exeter. My PhD research is exploring the effectiveness of ischaemic preconditioning (IPC) for exercise performance. IPC is a strategy involving brief cycles of occlusion and reperfusion of arterial blood flow to a limb, and my work aims to better understand its physiological and performance related effects. I am fortunate to be supervised by Dr Bert Bond and Professor Andrew Jones.
I hold a First-Class Honours BSc degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences from the University of Exeter, where I received academic commendations in my first and second years. I'm especially interested in exercise physiology and exploring evidence-based methods to improve performance. I'm driven to apply research in real-world performance environments—whether that’s through contributing to the scientific literature, supporting athlete development, or working with organisations to enhance training and recovery strategies. I’m always keen to connect with others who are passionate about linking science with practice in sport and health.
