Sport and Health Sciences

I am currently studying as a PhD student, funded by the ESRC as part of the SWDTP 1+3 Studentship programme. I am investigating adverse childhood experiences and the links with future cardiovascular health outcomes, with particular interests in how social and environmental factors might influence these relationships. My interests in physical and mental health across the lifespan has developed since completing my MSc in Sport and Health Sciences, where within my dissertation, I completed a paper assessing the impacts of scaling for body size when using measurements of fitness to classify levels of cardiometabolic risk in children. I am based within the Children's Health and Exercise Research Centre, and am also a steering committee member within the Children & Young People Wellbeing @ Exeter Network.

Prior to beginning my PhD, I also spent a year working as part of the Laboratory Technician team within Public Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Exeter. During this period I additionally completed four months of work acting as a research assistant, carrying out and documenting the results from a series of analyses of muscle and blood samples.
