Dr Josephine Robb
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
About me:
Josephine is a post-doctoral research associate with Professor Albert Basson. She is currently working on projects uncovering the role of histone methylation in neuronal development, with a predominant focus on the role of CHD7 in the development of CHARGE syndrome.
Background:
Josephine studied for her BSc. in Biological Sciences at Lancaster University, before going on to complete her Ph.D. at the University of Exeter Medical School under the supervision of Professor Kate Ellacott. During her Ph.D. she studied the interaction between inflammation and cellular metabolism (immunometabolism) in astrocytes and microglia. After completing her Ph.D. her first postdoctoral project investigated the role of STAT3 in immunometabolism in pancreatic cells as part of the IBEx team, with Dr. Mark Russell. She went on to gain a postion in the lab of Professor Thierry Alquier at the University of Montreal (Canada), where she continued her investigations into the interaction between inflammation and lipid metabolism in microglial cells, and developed her expertise in mouse behavioural modelling.
Interests:
Neurodevelopment and aging
Glial cell biology
Chromatin remodelling
Inflammation
Cellular metabolism
Qualifications:
Ph.D. Medical Sciences
B.Sc. Hons. Biological Sciences
