Dr Jenny Imm (she/her)

Jenny completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bath in 2015, and it was during this time that shebecame interested in neuroscience and in particular dementia. As a result of this she completed her PhD at the University of Exeter as a part of the Complex Disease Epigenomics Group under the supervision of Professor Katie Lunnon and Dr Talitha Kerrigan. During this time she investigated the use of induced pluripotent stem cells to model the epigenetic changes occurring throughout ageing and in Alzheimer's disease.

In 2020 Jenny started a post-doctoral position with Professor Katie Lunnon, where she investigated the methylomic changes associated with both Lewy body pathology and disease diagnosis in the Lewy body dementias. This work involved creating a substantial cohort of over 900 post-mortem brain samples to analyse bulk tissue methylomic changes in two different brain regions. Additionally, she generated a smaller cohort, using fluorescence-activated nuclei sorting, to examine the methylomic changes in individual brain cell types, providing a more granular understanding of the diseases.

Jenny was then appointed as an Alzheimer's Society Research Fellow in June 2024. As a part of this role she will be investigating the methylomic and molecular consequences of Lewy body pathology on neurons in the context of Lewy body dementia.
