Dr Jamie Bowater

I have been a Research Fellow in PenTAG since May 2025. Before coming to Exeter, I worked as a lecturer/associate professor in statistics at Lancaster University and three universities in Mexico (UAM, UAQ and UDLAP). I have also worked as a researcher in statistical theory/evidence synthesis at the Universities of Warwick, Bath, Padua (Italy), Birmingham and Bristol. Over the years, I have gained substantial experience in statistical consultancy and meta-analysis. With regard to my studies, I did my first degree in Mathematics with Economics at Loughborough University and obtained a PhD in Statistics from Bristol University.

Research interests: Health technology assessment; Evidence synthesis; Applied epistemology; Statistical inference.
