Dr Geraint Phillips (He / him)

Dr Geraint Phillips is a Clinical PhD Fellow based at the University of Exeter, funded through the Alzheimer's Society charity. His primary research interest focuses on the achievement of earlier and more accurate diagnoses of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases that cause dementia through non-invasive fluid biomarkers, particularly via remote assessments and community-collected biofluid samples.
Dr Phillips studied Medicine at the University of Bristol, alongside an intercalated BSc in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, before commencing postgraduate Foundation Training in Liverpool. During Core Medical Training in Exeter, he undertook a regional HEE-SW Quality Improvement Fellowship and completed a PG Cert Healthcare Leadership & Management at the University of Exeter.
During specialist training in Geriatric Medicine, he undertook an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and completed the MSc Health Research Methods at the University of Exeter, where he developed his interest in Alzheimer's disease biomarkers and translational research methods. This led to early research grant funding, including an Alzheimer's Society Clinician and Healthcare Professionals Training Fellowship.
Clinical Role:
Geraint is an ST7 registrar in Geriatric Medicine & General Internal Medicine based in South West Peninsula Deanery, currently Out Of Programme for Research (OOPR).
