Dr Erum Malik

About me:

Erum graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Later, she pursued a PhD from the University of Central Lancashire in discovering antimicrobial peptides and their mechanism of action against pathogenic bacteria. Additionally, Erum also got another Master's degree in Biochemistry from Shah Abdul Latif University, Pakistan. 

Erum mainly teaches various subjects of Biomedical Sciences to BMBS and Graduate related programmes on microbiology, physiology, genetics, metabolism, carcinogenesis, biochemistry and cell and molecular biology, immunology, haematology, food and nutrition etc. She is developing and utilising a range of innovative teaching and learning approaches for students' engagemnt and interest.  

In addition to teaching responsibilities, Erum, previously, served as a Lead for Technology Enhanced Learning where She worked productively as an individual or a team member in promoting and developing the use of e-Learning across the college of Medicine and Health as well as ensured that with Exeter’s e-Learning facilities such as ELE and google site can reflect the excellence of the teaching, learning and research expected of a world class university. 

Currently, serving as an Academic Lead for Year 2 BMBS program and an Academic Conduct Officer, Erum regulary meets with whole cohort of the students, sorting their academic and personal issues, conveying their messages, raising their voice to the higher authorities and ensures that the Department complies with the University's Code of Practice attends Department-level plagiarism and misconduct hearings and Committees of Academic Enquiry repectively.
