I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow; I joined the university in 2006. My research interest lies in system approaches to public health, obesity prevention/treatment, and health promotion and food provision in schools. I am passionate about the involvement and engagement of people in all aspects of the research process and facilitate a Young Person’s Advisory Group. My PhD by publication focused on taking a Complex Adaptive Systems approach to support schools to create the conditions for health promotion.

 

Projects:

NEWA (National Evaluation of Weight-medication Access) an evaluation of models of care to provide national access to weight management medication in England

·       Understanding the impact of mandatory energy (calorie) labelling policy in out-of- home food environments in England: a mixed methods evaluation of purchase behaviour, population health outcomes, and the views of young people.

·       ASET fellowship - Promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours to adolescents in English secondary schools to understand and explore how to create the conditions for health promotion taking a complex systems approach

·       RIVA (mateRnIty Violence Advisors) an evaluation of models of Independent Domestic Violence Advisor provision in maternity settings.

·       NIHR Southwest Peninsula Applied Research Collaboration (PenARC) Child Health and Maternity Programme.

·       Healthy Lifestyles Programme (HeLP).
