Andrew Jones is Professor of Applied Physiology in the Department of Public Health and Sport Sciences and Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research Quality and Impact at the University of Exeter. His research expertise and interests span bioenergetics, respiratory physiology, pulmonary gas exchange dynamics, skeletal muscle metabolism, efficiency, critical power and metabolic thresholds, exercise-related fatigue processes, sports nutrition, ergogenic aids, nitric oxide biology and dietary nitrate, elite sports performance physiology, exercise testing and interpretation, training prescription and adaptation.

 

Professor Jones has authored more than 360 original research and review articles which have been cited over 42,000 times. He is also the co-editor of three books. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, the European College of Sport Science, and the Physiological Society. In addition, Professor Jones serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise and in on the Editorial Board of six other international journals in sports medicine and exercise science. He has consulted for various governing bodies of sport or commercial companies, including UK Athletics, the English Institute of Sport, Gatorade Sports Science Institute, and Nike Inc.
