Dr Tristan Snowsill is an expert in health economic evaluation methods, such as cost-effectiveness analysis, which are used to decide how limited healthcare budgets can best be spent. He has particular experience in evaluations of cancer early detection (screening and surveillance) and his work has informed decisions by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the UK National Screening Committee.
After studying engineering mathematics and obtaining a PhD related to data mining at the University of Bristol, Dr Snowsill took a postdoctoral position in the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG), contributing towards NICE technology appraisals. He subsequently moved to the Health Economics Group at the University of Exeter, where he is currently a senior lecturer with an active research portfolio and contributing to teaching within the faculty.
Dr Snowsill is internationally recognised for his YouTube channel on decision analytic modelling in healthcare, which has over 3000 subscribers and provides introductions to conducting model-based economic evaluations in R and Excel.
