I joined the University of Exeter Medical School in September 2012. Since April 2020 I have primarily worked with the Exeter PRP Evidence Review Facility as a systematic reviewer and information specialist. My work involves carrying out systematic reviews and other types of evidence synthesis commissioned by the NIHR Policy Research Programme to inform health and social care policy in the UK. Since starting my current role I have also been a co-investigator on an NIHR HTA funded systematic review on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of gynaecological surveillance for women with Lynch syndrome.
I came to systematic reviews through an information specialist post at the University of Warwick in 2011-2012. This followed working in a library setting in a large teaching hospital in North West England. My academic career as a researcher has mainly been funded by NIHR programme grants, including HSDR, PenARC and PRP programme grants. I have also been a co-applicant on several HSDR funded realist reviews, and HSDR and HTA funded systematic reviews, both as a systematic reviewer and information specialist. Alongside this, I have developed an interest and publication track record in systematic review methods research, which was the focus of my PhD. More recently I have worked on projects and related outputs with a health equity dimension, which is a current area of interest, including here, here and here.
