PenTAG researchers scooped two of the eight awards at the glittering ceremony on Tuesday 10 December.

2013 Exeter Impact Awards
Double whammy: Two awards for Research Impact

PenTAG researchers Dr Tom Monks and Oriana Ciani (a PhD student) scooped two of the eight 2013 Exeter Impact Awards, at the glittering ceremony on Tuesday 10 December. Tom was awarded The George Smith regional partnership award for his PenCLAHRC-funded work on: ‘Optimising emergency stroke treatment to reduce disability in South West England’ with Dr Martin Pitt, and Prof Ken Stein (University of Exeter); and Michelle Roe and Dr Martin James (Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital) Click here for more details.
Oriana was awarded the Outstanding Impact in Health and Wellbeing award for her PhD research on: ‘Judging the value of healthcare treatments: getting the outcomes right for patients’ with Dr Ruth Garside, Prof Ken Stein, and Prof Rod Taylor (University of Exeter). For Oriana, this follows another recent award from the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) conference for Best Student Podium Research Presentation on ‘Validation of surrogate endpoints in advanced solid tumours: systematic review of statistical methods, results and implications for policy makers’, in November 2013 .
