Healthy Ageing and Chronic Disease

CBS researchers take a population to gene approach to understand the biology of ageing and improve the health and wellbeing of our ageing population. We aim to understand the mechanisms of healthy ageing and age-associated diseases such as neurodegeneration, metabolic diseases, inflammatory disorders, and reproductive lifespan.

We use an interdisciplinary approach combining epidemiology, genetics, functional genomics, preclinical models, cell biology and artificial intelligence to predict and understand these conditions. With a bench-to-bedside approach from basic biology all the way to novel drug development and the design of novel medical or digital interventions, we aim to improve the health and wellbeing of our ageing population.
