Research into the pathophysiology of disease is core to our research strategy and includes in vitro, in vivo and clinical research. In neuroscience we use electrophysiological, imaging, behavioural and neurochemical approaches to understand the neurophysiological basis of human diseases. In metabolic disease we use cellular models and patient tissues to understand aetiology and mechanism. Functional characterisation of human genomic discoveries is also a key area of experimental medicine.
