Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
Dr Shelly Dogra is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Exeter Medical School, where she leads curriculum innovation, programme development, and inclusive education initiatives. She currently serves as Programme Director for the newly launched BSc Biomedical Sciences, having successfully transitioned the former excellent BSc Medical Sciences programme through a comprehensive redesign aligned with pedagogical best practices and institutional priorities.
Her teaching spans Medicine, Medical Sciences, and Neuroscience programmes, with a strong emphasis on student engagement, blended learning, and curriculum development. She has led multiple Year 1 modules and received numerous accolades, including the University’s Silver Award for teaching excellence, several Above and Beyond awards, and Student Guild Teaching Awards.
Dr Dogra is deeply committed to student support and academic mentorship. She has supervised undergraduate and PhD research projects, mentored staff through FHEA and SFHEA applications, and contributed to widening participation through outreach and recruitment activities. Her leadership in inclusive education is reflected in her involvement with the Success and Inclusive Education Working Group and the CBS Education Committee.
Her pedagogical research focuses on curriculum design, inclusive education, and sustainability in science teaching. She is currently co-leading an Education Incubator project that integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into biomedical curricula through student-led video resources. This initiative promotes global awareness and climate literacy among Clinical and Biomedical Sciences students.
