Clinical and Biomedical Sciences

Marina is a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter Medical School, working within the Reproductive Genomics team, part of the Genetics of Complex Traits group.

Her current research covers multiple aspects of women's health, including reproductive ageing and the timing of menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and reproductive hormones. To understand the genetic basis of those characteristics, she uses whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data from large-scale population cohorts such as UK Biobank and All of Us.

Before joining Exeter in 2024, Marina completed a PhD at the University of Bristol, where she investigated risk factors for breast cancer, and its link to early-life adiposity. Her work applied methods from genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics, including Mendelian Randomization (Nature Comms, 2024).

Marina is a Local Network Lead (LNL) in the UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) team at the University of Exeter, working alongside the institutional leads to promote and support open research practices across the university.  This involves building a local community of researchers interested in reproducibility and open research, and promoting relevant training and engagement opportunities.
