Liming obtained his BSc Medical Sciences degree with the University of Exeter in 2021. In the third year of undergraduate study, he joined the Anggono research group in the University of Queensland in Australia for one year (2019-2020). In this project he and his colleagues reported a novel role of a Calcium-dependant kinase CaMKII in phosphorylating the C-terminus tail of GluN2A subunits of NMDA recepters which untimately controls the forward trafficking of GluN2A-containing NMDA recepters to the cell surface during neural activity. After he comes back to Exeter, he joined the Oguro-Ando group for his final year project researching about how cell adhesion molecule Contactin-4 affects neurite elongation during neuronal cell differenciation. After graduation he continued his PhD study with Dr Asami Oguro-Ando and Prof Kate Ellacott based in the RILD Building of Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (2022). In 2024, Liming has been awarded a Pre-/Post Doctoral Research Fellowship funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to allow his proposed collaboration with Prof Akiyoshi Saitoh and Prof Daisuke Yamada from Tokyo University of Science in Japan as part of his PhD research. His project focuses on elucidating the convergent molecular pathway dysregulation across several neurodevelopment disorders during brain development and maturation.
