Miss Lucy Jackson

About:

Lucy joined the University of Exeter in 2025 as a Lecturer in Genomic Medicine. She provides lectures, workshops, and project supervision across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences.

Alongside her academic role at the University of Exeter, she also works as a registered Clinical Scientist in the NHS. Lucy has worked across prenatal, paediatric, and adult genetic services and has experience across a wide range of cytogenetic and molecular applications for the diagnosis of rare disease. Building on her involvement in the 100,000 Genomes Project, her current focus is on the analysis of whole genome sequencing (WGS) data in neurological disorders, with particular interest in variant classification and characterisation of small nucleotide variants (SNVs) and structural variants (SVs).

During her clinical practice Lucy has also been heavily involved in the training of healthcare scientists. She has developed and delivered regional workplace training modules aligned to the Scientist Training Programme (STP) curriculum and currently contributes nationally as an Assessment Content Writer for the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS).
