Dr Jo Seale is the BMBS deputy director of assessments and lead for the medical knowledge theme at the University of Exeter Medical School. During her time at Exeter, she has been the clinical skills lead and the co-lead for problem-based learning. She has also created and delivered sessions on topics ranging from anatomy to biomedical science. In terms of background, Jo initially gained a psychology degree after which she entered the world of neuroscience where she completed a MSc in clinical neuroscience and a PhD in neuroendocrinology. It was at this point that Jo entered the medical profession and upon completion of her BMBS degree, specialised in medical microbiology prior to entering the field of medical education. During this time she also completed a MSc in nutrition and food science and a PGCert in academic practice. As a researcher, Jo has over 20 peer reviewed publications and as an academic, she has worked in a variety of institutions including King’s College London and University College London. Jo now fully dedicates her time to academia and is particularly keen on the field of assessment and content/curriculum development with her main aim being to inspire and help future medical professionals reach their full potential.
