About me:
Jack Bowden is Professor of Biomedical Data Science within Exeter Medical School and a Senior Scientific Director at Novo Nordisk, Oxford. He has published over 120 papers in high impact statistics, biostatistics, genetics and medical journals and has been listed as a Clarivate Web-of-Science Highly Cited Researcher each year since 2019 (with the caveat that this measure is biased in favour of men).
Over the last 20 years has made major contributions towards the development of robust approaches for genetic-based causal inference using the technique of Mendelian randomization, with applications in public health and drug discovery. His most recent academic work has focused on the development of methods for triangulating multiple genetic and non-genetic causal methods in real world data, with applications to multi-morbidity, pharmacogenetics and precision medicine in type II diabetes.
He has substantial research experience in clinical trials methodology, particularly in the areas of adptive, multi-arm trials incorporating response adaptive randomization and the use of causal inference methods for trial analysis within the Estimand framework.
