About me:
Dr. Hassan Fadavi is a qualified General Practitioner (GP) with a strong academic background. He obtained his MD degree from Iran, where he honed his medical skills and knowledge. He pursued a PhD at the University of Manchester, specializing in the study of diabetic complications, specifically focusing on peripheral neuropathy and microvascular complications of diabetes.
During his doctoral research, Dr. Fadavi extensively investigated the underlying mechanisms of neuropathy, as well as vascular and microvascular complications in diabetic patients. His work involved conducting clinical neurological assessments to evaluate the impact of diabetes on the nervous system. Additionally, he performed and processed punch skin biopsy, utilizing both light and electron microscopy, to examine vascular and microvascular structures and functions. (Combination of morphometry with immunohistological studies)
As a post-doctoral Research Fellow, Dr. Fadavi worked on numerous national and collaborative multinational clinical projects and translational studies. These research endeavours aimed to further explore nerve structure and function in patients with peripheral neuropathy and improve the quality of life and well-being in patients with diabetes.
Before joining the University of Exeter, Dr. Fadavi gained valuable experience at Imperial College London. During his time there, he worked on a randomized clinical trial funded by Diabetes UK, in Professor Praveen Anand's clinic. The trial focused on investigating the effects of a novel treatment called Capsaicin 8% Patch on nerve regeneration in patients suffering from painful diabetic neuropathy.
