Dr Daniela Souto Patinha
Senior Lecturer
Clinical and Biomedical Sciences
I am a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences within the Medical School at the University of Exeter. I have a broad portfolio of teaching responsibilities across the BSc Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) programmes.
I have been developing as an educator and a researcher in international teams in Portugal, Sweden, New Zealand and UK. I bring my international research experience into my teaching focused role and apply research principles and skills to my educational practices. One area of interest is to enhance students’ critical thinking which has a direct impact on their employability skills.
My strong interest in biomedical sciences stemmed from my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and expanded during my PhD in Metabolism. My research background is in integrative physiology aiming to phenotyping and integrating Oxygen Metabolism, particularly in Cardiovascular and Renal pathophysiology.
