I am a Senior Clinical Tutor at the University of Exeter Medical School. I mainly co-ordinate and deliver clinical skills teaching and clinical finals for year 4 students. My role involves:

  • small group teaching, comprising advanced clinical communication skills, simulation, clinical data interpretation and clinical reasoning
  • liaising with clinical colleagues who provide clinical skills teaching to ensure smooth delivery
  • attending student feedback sessions to understand where improvements can be made
  • recruiting and training new tutors
  • developing new OSCE stations and updating historical stations
  • providing 'huddles' to ensure clear and consistent station performance
  • working with the assessments team to review OSCE processes and data
  • providing OSCE briefings to students
  • providing OSCE support to underperforming students

In addition, I am a member of the Clinical Assessment Panel, contributing questions and providing peer review of single best answer examination questions. I am an investigative Officer for Fitness to Practice cases.

Career:

I trained at Imperial College School of Medicine and undertook Foundation training and Core Medical Training in the South West. I then undertook clinical academic renal training with an ACF in Prof Hattersley's group followed by doctoral work through the Tony Wing Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Bristol. My PhD work was recognised with the AEG Raine Award from the UK Kidney Association. I completed my training with a ACL post and obtained my CCT in 2020. I was then appointed to a joint post as a Consultant Nephrologist at the RD&E and a Senior Clinical Tutor in UEMS in November 2021.
