Dr Andy Davenport gained his BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and MSc in Sports Nutrition from Liverpool John Moores University, before moving to the University of Exeter to complete his PhD. His PhD was completed in the Nutritional Physiology Research Group under the supervision of Professor Francis Stephens and Professor Ben Wall. Andy completed his PhD, titled “The Effect of Pre- and Intra-Exercise Nutritional Interventions on the Skeletal Muscle Metabolic and Functional Response to Endurance Exercise and Training” in 2021. 


Andy subsequently joined the University of Exeter Medical School as an Associate Lecturer in January 2022 before becoming a Lecturer in 2024. He teaches across the Medical School in Medical Sciences (BSc), Medicine (BMBS) and Sport and Exercise Medicine (MSc). He sits on the Wellbeing, Inclusion and Culture Committee for Medical Sciences, with a passion for widening participation for those with a low socio-economic status. He is interested in the emerging role and risks of artificial intelligence in Higher Education and assessments.
