CATCh-uS Mapping study
The mapping study aimed to create a list of existing National Health Service (NHS) provision in the UK for young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) aged 18 and above. This was intended to inform future service provision and improve transition from children’s to adult’s services. Identified services were considered in line with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines on: ‘Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: diagnosis and management’ (2008, 2016, 2018).
The study is funded by the National Institute of Health Research and is being run in collaboration with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and ADHD support groups: AADD-UK, ADHD foundation and UK Adult ADHD Network. We asked three different groups of people about service provision in their area:
- Young people with ADHD, their parents/carers (service users),
- Clinicians and professionals who work with young people with ADHD (including psychiatrists, GPs, paediatricians, nurses and managers)
- Clinical Commissioning Groups (the people who commission and pay for services)
The 2018 survey gained over 2500 responses from across the UK. Information gathered was used to create a map of existing services which can viewed by clicking on the link to the right of this page. Responses to our 2016 pilot survey were used to create a preliminary map of existing services which was widely shared, with over 30,000 views.
