Exeter expert to advance artificial intelligence use in dementia identification with Turing Fellowship
Professor David Llewellyn has been awarded the prestigious Turing Fellowship which will aim to accelerate the application of machine learning within the healthcare industry.
The University of Exeter Medical School was well-represented at the Alzheimer's Association Internation Conferene (AAIC) this year.
Research led by Professor David Llewellyn found that living a healthy lifestyle may help offset a person's genetic risk of dementia. This was widely covered, in the UK (BBC News, The Telegraph, The Guardian and New Scientist) and the US (The New York Times, TIME and The Washington Post).
Depression is common in people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but eh actual cuases of depressionin this group are unknown.
