Montmorency Cherry: exercise performance and recovery

Our current and recent work in this area expands on our previous work in which we showed that Montmorency cherry juice consumption improved the recovery of muscle strength after intensive exercise.

Using muscle biopsies, we have demonstrated that cherry supplementation increases antioxidant gene and protein expression, which may underpin the ergogenic effects of cherry. We continue to investigate the effects of cherry consumption on exercise performance and recovery and the underpinning molecular mechanism.
