Dr Valentina Mosienko is a neuroscientist with a background in behavior neuroscience, and molecular and glial biology. In her group, they investigate causes, mechanisms and therapeutic targets in neuropsychiatric disorders. The current focus of her research is on non-neuronal mechanisms underlying depression through immune cells of the brain, astrocytes and microglia.

Dr Mosienko completed her first degree in Biology at the Belarusian State University (Belarus) before obtaining a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship to undertake doctoral studies at the Max-Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC, Germany). She earned her PhD (summa cum laude) from the Humboldt University Berlin (Germany) and went on to take up postdoctoral positions first at the MDC and then at the University of Bristol before her recent appointment as a Lecturer at the University of Exeter Medical School.
