Rebecca graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc (Hons) in Cellular and Molecular Medicine in 2015. Her regenerative medicine undergraduate lab project focused on tissue engineering perinatal stem cell seeded cardiac patches for the treatment of congenital heart defects.
After a year in a commercial microbiology lab, she started an MSc by Research as part of the Diabetes and Obesity research group under the supervision of Dr Katarina Kos.
BSc (Hons) Cellular and Molecular Medicine
Rebecca’s work focuses on type 2 diabetes. Her current project investigates the influence insulin levels have on adipose tissue fibrosis in human obesity, and the characteristics of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory tissue macrophages.
