After completing a dual honours degree at Keele University in Forensic Science and Human Biology, Matthew was awarded with a PhD Studentship at The University of Exeter in September 2013.

Broad research specialisms

Matthew's current research focusses around the potential role of mitochondrial methylation in Alzheimer’s disease with a focus on the use of current next generational sequencing technologies to explore (epi)genetic features that may be dysregulated in those who develop this phenotype.

Previously Matthew has facilitated a group of undergraduates on a one-week project assessing the nature of prevention, treatment and recovery in mental health from the viewpoint of various service users.
