Overview

Lucy joined the NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility and UEMS as a Research Assistant as part of the Diabetes Research Team in 2017. Her role involves managing the Improving Clinical Care in Diabetes (ICCD) Study, an observational study which aims to explore why diabetes and its associated complications progress quickly in some patients and much slower in others.  As part of this role she works closely with local GP Surgeries, supporting with study set up, conduct, data collection and data management.

Lucy has studied and worked for over 10 years in the Higher Education Sector. In 2009, Lucy commenced a PhD at the University of Bath researching mechanisms of GLUT 4 Transporter trafficking in muscle cells, which was successfully completed in 2013. Most recently, prior to joining UEMS, Lucy worked at the University of Oxford in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences. Her roles here involved the recruitment of participants into research studies, human tissue biobanking and laboratory management.
