Louise Hancock

Clinical Tutor - Medical Imaging

I am a clinical tutor for the BSc Medical Imaging undergraduate degree programme, providing placement support, teaching and pastoral care to undergraduate radiography students on clinical placement. Clinical tutors support both the students and placement staff as part of the role and as such, I am an ambassador for the University and Medical Imaging programme.

I am also employed by Plymouth Hospitals NHS trusts as a diagnostic radiographer within the Radiology Department at Derriford Hospital. As a busy teaching hospital I am responsible for teaching and supervising undergraduate radiography students on a daily basis as well as formally assessing their performance. Within my role at Derriford I work in a range of areas within general radiography including the Emergency Department, Theatre, Mobile Radiography Fluoroscopy, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics.

I am currently undertaking a PG Cert in Clinical Education as I I feel passionately about the clinical education of undergraduate radiographers. Teaching, mentoring and assessment of students is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my current role.
