Overview
Kaiyven is a PhD student from Cameroon, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Buea. He later on worked at the National reference laboratory (One of the Institut Pasteurs) for 3 years before obtaining a Commonwealth Scholarship for his Master’s degree at the University of the West of England. Following his MSc Biomedical Sciences he returned home for a year’s work experience and then obtained another Commonwealth Scholarship for his present PhD in 2015 under the Exeter Islet biology team.
My general interest is on the Immunology of non-communicable diseases.

Research
Research interests
Kaiyven is interested in the Immunology of Type 1 Diabetes, he is specifically looking into the role played by a transcription factor called STAT6 in pancreatic beta cell health. The project is funded by Diabetes UK and supervised by Prof Noel G. Morgan, Dr Sarah Richardson and Dr Mark A. Russell.
