Knowledge Spa S06

I first gained a passion for medicine through my background in coastal rescue with the RNLI, which I furthered through conducting a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science. I have subsequently transitioned from frontline emergency care for the London Ambulance Service through to specialist roles in multiple clinical NHS environments including geriatric hospital avoidance, urgent care and most recently within General Practice where I ran an autonomous clinic for acute presentations. These roles continue to be at the forefront of allied health integration and have allowed me to both personally and professionally develop through specialising at the cutting edge of Paramedic practice. The knowledge and experience gained within these roles, alongside postgraduate study in Advanced Practice and Therapeutics, has provided me with significant depth and breadth of clinical knowledge and experience of the internal workings of the NHS.

I have spent time training in remote/humanitarian medicine and have volunteered in Northern India and the Calais ‘Jungle’ providing clinical humanitarian aid. My main clinical interests surround antimicrobial resistance, environment and health interactions, remote medicine and humanitarian medicine/aid.

Alongside my clinical roles I have worked as a Lecturer in Paramedic Science and Clinical Skills Tutor for Exeter providing evidence and experience-based lectures, simulation and team-based learning sessions whilst achieving my PgCHE and FHEA. These roles have allowed me to merge my passion for medicine and education, where I am focussed on providing a current, innovative and enthusiastic approach to education. I am interested in simulation research, development of feedback systems and integrating modern learning and teaching practices.
