Jessica works part-time as a Research Rechnician, supporting multiple research teams which all have a focus on Diabetes research, and part-time persuing her own research as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, after recently obtaining her PhD from University of Exeter in 2020. She is particularly interested in the role of a viral infection in triggering the onset of Type 1 Diabetes and in the antiviral signaling pathways involved.
As a research technician, Jessica is particularly focused on ensuring that the laboratory is a sustainable environment, and is working with other LEAF ambassadors across the university to try to achieve sustainability goals.
Outside of research, Jess enjoys walking on the local moors and playing flute and piano.
